Mission, goals and other projects of the Echenberg Institute

The Echenberg Institute for Pelvic and Sexual Pain is committed to offering support, assessment, and innovative, multi-modal treatment approaches for individuals suffering from multiple types of chronic pain related to the pelvic region.  The Institute is dedicated to collaborative research and community education towards the effort of preventing these types of chronic pain in both women and men.

Mission Statement

To offer an evidence-based, multidisciplinary, and multi-modality model for the education, prevention, and treatment of chronic pain in women (and men) that may be replicated in other communities.

1.  For members of the institute to share a common, inter-disciplinary knowledge base to treat chronic pelvic, genital and sexual pain disorders.
2.  To educate community providers who may be in a position to provide an early and positive interaction with an individual who may be at risk for future chronic pain problems, or who may be in a position to help support individuals already in treatment.
3.  To maintain a resource library that contains the latest multidisciplinary, evidence-based, and multi-organ system information.
4.  To provide face to face and/or virtual opportunities for community members to support each other and share their experiences to assist in the recovery from complex abdominal, pelvic, genital and sexual pain disorders.
